EcoTraveller's Code

Ecoturismolatino proposes the following EcoTraveller's Code as guide for people planning to visit natural protected areas (NPAs) in Latin America. The code is structured around the contexts present in an NPA:

Natural

  • Protect the fauna and flora.
  • Remove rubbish. What ever you take into the NPA you must take out. That includes your equipment and rubbish.
  • Keep streams, rives, lakes and lagoons clean.
  • Take care with fire.

Cultural

  • Respect the privacy of the local communities.
  • Buy local produce and services.
  • Respect the cultural heritage of the area.

Social

  • Camp with care. Leave no trace of your visit.
  • Consider other EcoTravellers.

Managerial

  • Follow the regulations of the NPA.
  • Pay your fees. Remember that the money supports the conservation of the NPA.

If you have other points to suggest for this code join our EcoTravellers eGroup and present your ideas for discussion!
