Tremembe Who do we address to To
everyone who loves spending his/her holiday in a familiar, sober and
quiet atmosphere, immersed in the pure and plain beauty of the nature.
To everyone who is curious, attentive to the people, interested in getting
acquainted with the cultures he/she approaches and the context in which
they develop. To everyone who prefers the chance of unexpected meetings,
strong experiences and nice emotions to the "all inclusive"
formula. Tremembé
is a village where 67 fishermen's families live, it is 10 km far from
the municipality of Icapuì and 200km far from Fortaleza, capital
city of the Cearà State (Nord-East of Brasil). This coast offers
peculiar climatic conditions, which make it a pleasant destination in
every time of the year. For a reasonable price it is possible to stay in a Pousada (boarding house), directly on the Atlantic Ocean, in front of endless and almost desert beaches, frequented by fishermen and their families. The climate is particularly favourable (28 degrees is the average temperature) and a constant wind guarantees the absence of mosquitoes. The house is comfortable, with a large and flowery patio and essentially furnished. Every bedroom has its own bathroom. It is an ideal place for every age. Why Tremembè? To combine a relaxing holiday on the Atlantic Ocean, in an uncontaminated environment, with the possibility of discovering different cultures and beauties. To support the economy of the community and start meetings and exchanges in order to encourage new projects in one of the poorest areas of Brazil. Our project Our project has
developed inside a decentralized cooperation project, still under realization,
that supports an equal and sustainable tourism, respectful of the local
culture. Our aim is to help our guests to meet the village fishermen,
the sensitive local administration, the associations which work for
the development of an active and conscious citizenship, engaged in a
humanly sustainable progress. It promotes cultural exchange and encourages
meetings with the most significant realities (Sem Terra and their fights
for the right to have a land, agricultural cooperative societies, native
tribes always threatened, projects in "barrios" and urban
"favelas", liberation theology). It offers occasions to hear,
live and share life experiences, and also processes of human, social
and economic development in the North-East area of Brazil. Who gets the
economic benefits? Tremembè Association has lent the pousada to Caiçara Association, a Brazilian NGO that runs it. The incomes of the tourist activity belong to the Caiçara Association and will support other projects for the benefit of the local community. Contacts Italy |
