All European Union countries are exempt of needing a visa, except for
French citizens.
For citizens from Andorra, Bahamas, Barbados, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador,
Island, Liechtenstein, Monaco, Morroco, Norway, Peru, Phillipines, San
Marino, Slovenia, South Africa, Suriname, Switzerland, Trinidad &
Tobago, Vatican City & Venezuela do not require a visa for visits
under 90 days. Transit passenger do not require a visa.
Citizens from France, Australia, New Zealand, U.S.A. & Canada will
need a visa issued from the Brazilian embassy in their home country. A
certificate of health from the World Health Organization is also required.
A tourist visa is issued for 90 days and can be renewed once (15 days
before expirying). To stay longer in the country one must exit Brazil
and re-enter. Visitors under 18 years will need a certified letter of
authorization from their parents or tutors.
· Customs: Airport Customs undergo aleatory revisions, but
when entering through frontier roads revisions are much more rigorous
mainly if you are coming from Bolivia. This is due to problems with drug
traffic and illegal goods. Any visitors may carry into Brazil: 400 cigarrettes
y 250g of tobacco, 25 cigars, 2 litres (0,5 galons) of alcohol & duty-free
products with a value of US$500.
All meat and cheese or any other animal products are prohibited if coming
from Africa, Asia, Italy, Portugal & Spain. Please ask at the nearest
consulate for further information.
