Studying Ecotourism Content This issue of our eBulletin we wanted to dedicate it to the students (or potential students) of ecotourism in Latin America. We wanted to remind you that in every issue of our eBolletin you can find information of new courses in the "Latin American Events" and "Recommended Links" sections. Another great source of information is our online eGroup for EcoTravellers. This issue presents just some of the options to specialise in the area of ecotourism in Latin America. So read our "ecotourism" section and find out where you can go and prepare yourself. We also recommend you to visit the recommended links of other international websites that have created links to schools and universities all around the world. This issue of our eBulletin is also very special because Ecoturismolatino together with EcoturismoEduca (www.ecoturismoeduca.com) have written the first eBook on "Guiding Groups of Ecotourists" (Manejo y Conducción de Grupos de Ecoturistas). The book is only available in Spanish, and it is described on the "Books" section of this eBulletin. Ecoturismolatino in its constant search to generate new initiatives in Latin America for a better ecotourism has launched the invitation for its first "Latin American eSimposium on Parks and Ecotourism" to be held online through its EcoTravellers eGroup, during April 2005. The eSimposium will be held in spanish so if you want to polish your Spanish and are keen on learning more about what is happening in Latin America join our eGroup. A second initiative launched in this issue is our newly created "eLibrary on Ecotourism and Protected Natural Areas". The idea is to find in one place as much information and links to documents about ecotourism and PNAs in Latin America. Most of the content is intended for the Spanish speaking audience, but we have included several documents in English and will include more in the future if they are relevant to the interests of the eLibrary. So give it a visit and browse around! Meanwhile keep in touch and have great ecotravels... Cheers, Allan R. Rhodes Espinoza (webmaster) Natural Protected Areas (NPAs) Every month we are including new parks to our country guides, so keep in touch for further information.
For more information about Protected Natural Areas in 21 Latin American countries visit our Guides of Parks and Protected Areas. Ecoturismolatino through the last several months has created links and supporting relations with websites and organisations promoting responsible tourism in Latin America. You can visit our Responsible Tourism section for more details. Some of the websites up to now are ResponsibleTravel.com, Sustainable Travel International, Ethical Traveler y and very recently Inka Porter Project. We invite you to get to know the campaign carried out by the Inka Porter Project on behalf of the Peruvian porters in the Andes. Become a responsible trekker when you do the trail to Machu Picchu, in Peru. Ecotourism has grown all around the world as a new type of tourism, but also of doing tourism. With this growth has come the need to understand the phenomena and better manage the impacts of tourism, to be able to do a genuine ecotourism. Ecoturismolatino has started a search of schools that offer any kind of training in ecotourism. Here we present just some of the universities that offer courses and careers on ecotourism around Latin America. The listing includes the name of the university, the contact person, their email and the website of the school. We plan to update constantly this listing. If you know of any other schools or courses please let us know to include them:
