All visitors to Uruguay must carry a valid passport, except citizens from
other South American countries or the United States who must carry an
identity card.
For visits under 3 months citizens of the following countries do not require
a visa: Argentina, Austria, Belgium, Belize, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia,
Costa Rica, Denmark, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Finland, France, Germany,
Greece, Guatemala, Honduras, Hungary, Island, Ireland, Italy, Israel,
Japan, Liechtenstein, Luxemburg, Malasya, Malta, Mexico, Holland, Nicaragua,
Norway, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Polond, Portugal, Seychelles, Slovenia,
South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom, United States
& Venezuela.
Business, transit or tourist visas are available upon request in any Uruguay
consulte or embassy. We recommend you to verify the requirements for application.
· Customs: Uruguay's residents are permitted to enter without
paying taxes:
*200 cigarrettes, 25 cigars or 250g of tobacco
* 1 litre of alcohol
* 2kg of food
The following items are free of taxation for any visitor:
* 400 cigarrettess, 50 cigars or 500g of tobacco
* 2 litres of alcohol
* 5kg of food
* 3 small bottles of perfume
Under 18 visitors can only enter with have the above mentioned items.
All imports below $30USDollars are exempt of taxation as well as all exports
under $150USDollars. There is no limit on the amount of money a visitor
can enter or extract from Uruguay.
